BIO
As a professional arts administrator Wendy has extensive experience in media communications and production. From concept to final product Wendy enjoys collaborating with private collectors, clients, non-profits, and museums to conceptualize exhibitions and explore visitor experience and immersive experiences. As an artist she has studied and worked as a practicing artist in new media arts focused on the intersections of art and science as well as data collection and display. As a curator, she has conceptualized, funded, and produced multi-media installations and exhibitions exploring contemporary, new media, and theory-based subject matter as well as exhibitions exploring the history of personal collections and the relationships involved in art creation.
Wendy received her Bachelors Degree in Radio, Television, and Film with an emphasis in Studio and Art Theory from California State University, Fresno., studying with artist Charles Gaines and gallery management with William Minshew. She began her career in broadcast media producing radio and television programming. She moved to Los Angeles to work the entertainment circuit as a national demographics writer in the creative department of 20th Century Fox Studios, she wrote pilots under the direction of Stephen Chao, Brian Graden, and Scott St. John. Before this Wendy was Associate Producing for Jonathan Goodson at Mark Goodson Productions. Wendy was in charge of budgets, travel arrangements, DGA and SAG reporting. At Four Point Entertainment. she worked on syndicated programming as Assistant to the Producers, Ann Hassett and Bob Niemack, writing run through and studio scripts and script supervising, as well as organizing segment producers and writing teases for multiple episodes. Charity work in Los Angeles included publicity director for Los Angeles Friends of Tibet and community programming at KPFK, Pacifica Los Angeles.
Wendy has always enjoyed working in multimedia event coordination, promoting music and performance groups from experimental to international. Music production includes working for Darla Records, Vista CA.; Station Manager at KFCF Fresno, a Pacifica commercial free radio station run by the non-profit Fresno Free College Foundation. As the station manager Wendy would maintain subscriber bases, write articles, produce programming, program manager , dj and write FCC filings. Public events include live broadcasting and art based urban renewal projects. Performance events included events like Glow in the Park, a downtown park revitalization project showcasing local artists working in light and inflatable based art work, performance, and film.
Wendy enjoys fundraising for worthy causes including supporting local arts agencies and local art groups. She has fundraised for the San Deguito River Valley Conservancy, museums, and historical societies. She has worked with charitable foundations like the Niki de Saint Phalle Charitable Art Foundation and Matthew and Iris Strauss Family Foundation.
Most recently Wendy was at the Escondido Arts Partnership, a 501c3 non-profit, as the gallery manager and took over the helm as Executive Director after the disastrous 2007 fires that consumed much of the rural areas of Escondido and surrounding communities. Many of the local artists lost their homes, studios, and artwork in the fires. Around that same time, EAP's building was sold and the organization needed to find a new home. It was an excellent time to re-access the needs of the local community and create a vital new art space. At the Municipal Gallery Wendy curated over 80 exhibitions and over 50 community events including everything from the Recycled Materials Runway Event and 2nd Saturday art walks each month to producing the Organic Farmers Market and an artist in schools program with local non-profits and the elementary school district. Wendy has served on the Downtown Business Association Board of Directors and the California Center for the Arts Museum committee. Wendy is currently the Director of the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center.
