Niki de Saint Phalle Day in Escondido

Saturday, February 10th celebrate Niki de Saint Phalle in Escondido. Here is a quick schedule of activities:

9am to 2pm - Niki de Saint Phalle's Queen Califia's Magical Circle sculpture garden is open in Kit Carson Park. The park is free.

For directions see: queencalifia.org

10am - 12pm - CCAE museum, 2nd Saturday art activities focus on Niki de Saint Phalle. "Join us in our Art Studio and learn how to draw and write in a similar style to Niki de Saint Phalle’s unique handwriting. We will use pieces from her Californian Diary series, which is on view in the exhibition, for inspiration in creating an original signature in her likeness." Here is the facebook event page if you would like to register. (It is Pay what you Can day at the museum, so affordable for everyone!)

1pm - We will be walking thru the Niki de Saint Phalle, Mythical California exhibition at the CCAE Museum ( open 10am to 5pm). The public tour last month was so crowded, so I'm doing another one if you missed it.

Eva Struble "Cover Crop" painting series

3 - 4pm - Cover Crop by Eva Struble. Edible Magazine sponsors a focus on local farms and cafe talk with Eva about her solo painting exhibition at the CCAE museum.

Struble’s artwork treats distressed urban and natural landscapes, whose seemingly serene atmosphere belies the socio-political and environmental issues at their heart. Created on top of unfinished canvases from various periods, she adds imagery referencing small farms in the San Diego area, blending in previous scenes of her everyday life, television stills, textile patterns, and landscapes

After you leave the CCAE museum head to downtown Esco. and Grand Ave for 2nd Saturday Artwalk and receptions...(including the Chocolate and Wine Festival, tasting event (1-5pm), tickets here

Niki de Saint Phalle ALTAR A.O.S.

5:30 - 8:00pm - Escondido Municipal Gallery, opening reception for Myths and Legends. Find the secret Niki de Saint Phalle gallery where ALTAR O.A.S. is installed until April 2018.
